The mitchell girl's winning hit was actually a double, the runner crossed the plate as she made it to second. Appy's first baseman made a crucial mistake in trying to tag the runner at first instead of tagging the bag. That was the crucial play of the game. She missed the tag and that got the girls from Coeburn all pumped up.
I might add that this was probably the best game I have seen in a long, long time. It was a shame there had to be a loser in this one. Speaking of strike-outs, how many did the Wilson girl have for Appy. She pitched a hell of a game, too.

PV's pitcher, Marie Chandler had 13 K's, 3 walks and one hit in this game. . . It was a really good game. GC's pitcher also did a great job on the mound. . .

nice job wildcats. isn't it amazing how losing a group of seniors like haysi did will devastate a program? they were a pretty fierce bunch last year them haysi tigers.
